PROJECT DESCRIPTION

CUE produced the first edition of its new platform, The Scene Sessions, which highlights different music scenes around the world — starting in Barcelona, Spain.

Over the course of just eight days, we recorded 15 bands and 75 musicians, capturing the diversity and energy that make Barcelona’s music scene so exciting today.

The series features more well-known names, like Grammy winning drummer Antonio Sánchez, Snarky Puppy band leader Michael League, and Eurovision Contest winner Salvador Sobral, as well as emerging bands. In each episode, a band brings homage to Barcelona and its cultural scene in their own way, performing their music and sharing an object that represents Barcelona to them. All episodes were recorded in Sol de Sants Studio, which was transformed into a living room filled with books, paintings, and vinyl records, with references to Víctor Català, Isidre Nonell, Els 4 Gats, and other icons from the city’s artistic history.

Impact

Beyond paying all participating bands, CUE gave each artist full ownership of their recordings by transferring all rights, allowing them to use the material freely for their own benefit. This marks a new approach to music production and distribution — one that places artists at the center of the process.

CUE also secured distribution through 3Cat, with the entire series set to air on Canal 33 and stream on the 3Cat platform.
